Comfortable room with quiet AC, but street noise made sleeping tough.

We asked for 5 separate beds, but we only got 3 double beds, so we had a bad night, before going to the airport at 4 o,clock in the morning

historic building charm, unique room features, spacious clean rooms
The bathroom was akin to an ice block without a fan, quite uncomfortable!!! The hallway lights illuminating the night were a tad distracting through the doors, leading to some unwanted brightness!!! Kids found the sofa bed not super comfortable!!!

The 15 foot high decorated ceilings and huge windows that opened wide were a delight. Very nice breezes in early June. Somewhat romantic, but not in the honeymoon sense of the word. It's definitely a European style hotel. The breakfast was the only real downside. Staff were pleasant, though many spoke no English. I would happily stay there again.
The breakfast was the only real downside.

The place was perfectly clean, our room was new-fashioned and brand-new. Everything was perfectly fine and the staff were genuinely helpful. The location was nice, only 5 minutes walk to Praca da Republica. We appreciated a magnificent restaurant with a local menu.

Perfect for a short escape
Had a real nice time at this charming spot. The staff was genuinely helpful. The cared about their job and it showed.
It wasn't exactly cheap, but for the quality, it felt acceptable.

The location is quite charming, but having my room without a balcony, or even a real window, was just unacceptable. Oh, and the bathroom? Freezing, without any fan.

I appreciated the beautiful old features of The Rex Hotel Porto, especially the charming terrace in my Comfort Double Room with views over the gardens. The breakfast was good, with a variety of fresh pastries and the staff were warm and cute.
Some noise from the street at night.

Friendly helpful staff. The grand period architecture/decor - the ceiling in our bedroom was like that in a stately home. Free on site parking (I never had a problem but the car park sometimes got full). Rooms reasonably priced. Bar prices low (although very limited selection and we never saw anyone else use it). We did not regret choosing this hotel.
Poor plumbing - pipe hammer and the wash basin was slow to drain. Bathroom design - the position of the W.C. stopped the door opening fully, restricting access. Breakfast adequate and not the worst but could have been better.

I stayed in the Superior Double Room with a terrace for 5 nights, and it was so nice! The room was super clean and spacious. The terrace was perfect. The air conditioner worked great, always a win. Just keep in mind the walk to the riverfront is about 20 minutes, so wear comfy shoes!
